I - like many of you out there - have an obsession with gear. I could go on and on about it. I’ll keep things limited to my camera gear for now; check back for fishing gear (this is a novel-worth of information).

Camera Gear I am currently using

  • Bodies: Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T2

  • Lenses: XF 23 mm f/2 WR | XF 16-55 mm f/2.8 WR | XF 80 mm f/2.8 macros WR | Zeiss Touit 12 mm f/2.8 wide angle | XF 18-55 mm f/2.8-4 R OIS

  • Strap: Peak Designs Leash

  • Carry: I have an entire blog post on this topic. To keep it simple, when I am fishing, I have an Ape Case (I purchased it off Amazon) that fits perfectly in my Fishpond Thunderhead waterproof sling. It allows me to pack my primary body (XT3) with lens attached and room for one or two additional lenses in a padded case, and in a completely submersible pack that still has room for snacks, water and a rain jacket (as well as a few fly boxes and terminal gear). I will often leave my camera around my neck and tucked into the top of my waders so I can access it quickly, with some peace of mind that the body and lenses I carry are weathersealed and that I have insurance on my gear. I’d love to hear from you if you have more convenient solutions.

  • Tripods (I rarely use a tripod, but I do like to have one just in case): Sirui T-005SK Travel Tripod (smallest one I could find) / Benro TMA18C Series Mach 1 carbon fiber (cheapest carbon fiber I could find)

  • Drone: DJI Mavic Pro 2

  • Underwater: As of April 2020, I have added the Meikon Sea Frogs XT3 underwater housing to my line up. For the price - and compared to the other name brands - it is awesome. I’ll post a review when I’ve had a chance to use it more. For those of you who are interested, I’ve used my X-T2 in it with the XF 23 mm f2 and it has worked wonderfully.
